Sunday's service was taken by Mr and Mrs Anthony Murfitt from Littleport, and this Sunday the service at 10.45 will be conducted by the minister from Ely, the Rev Steven Watts. It is the Harvest Festival and it is hoped that a good number of people will attend - after all, Haddenham is a farming village even in the 21st century! House to house collection for National Children's Home is progressing and sponsors are needed for the same cause, for Mr Day, who plans to "do" the Great North Run later this autumn (he is the grandson of the former headmaster of Robert Arkenstall School, Roland Griffiths); more information can be obtained by ringing Ely 740514. The Youth Club for those aged seven-plus begins on Friday, September 29, and the United Ladies Fellowship begins its winter session on Wednesday, October 4, when the meeting will be held in the Methodist Hall. All ladies are welcome whether from Anglican, Baptist, Methodist or no church; it is a "good friends" type of gathering and a warm invitation is extended; a splendid way for people new to the parish to meet others.
