GREEN-fingered volunteers are celebrating receiving a massive grant from the Big Lottery Fund.
More than �100,000 has been awarded to Voluntary and Community Action East Cambridgeshire (VCAEC) and will be used to develop a new project for the charity's Helping Hands gardening team.
Charity manager Avril Hayter-Smith said the money, which will be awarded in instalments over the next three years, will be used to develop Growing Communities, Passport to a Healthier Lifestyle.
Volunteers will turn some large gardens into allotment areas. The produce grown will be given back to the garden owners, as well as being offered to local sheltered accommodation residents and other people in need at low rates.
