ELY Horticultural Society celebrated 80 years of its Great Autumn Show at the Paradise Centre this bank holiday weekend.

On show was a vibrant and colourful array of produce with entrants showcasing their skills in flower arranging, flower photography, wine-making, and vegetable growing. Young people were especially encouraged to enter what is one of the last remaining shows of its type in the region in a special under-15 category.

Some salad produce and autumn-planting bulbs were on sale at the show, which was open to the public as well as members of the Royal Horticultural Society.

Some of the more unusual categories were won by Gerald Rolfe, who showed cacti. Pamela Pauston won the home-made produce section.

Prizes were presented on Sunday by Albert Wesley who recently retired as show secretary after more than 40 years.
