GRAHAM Gooch OBE, former Essex and England cricket captain, was guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Littleport's Sports Celebrity Charity Dinner at The Maltings in Ely on March 26.
Supported by comedian Jed Stone, Graham entertained the guests with his humorous stories of cricket and its personalities, followed by Jed's comedy repertoire. The evening was finished off with an auction of memorabilia and other prizes. Auctioneer David Palmer's quick-witted presentation of the lots created much interest and excitement. The evening raised around 3,000.
The annual dinner is one of the highlights of the year for the Rotary Club of Littleport and has raised more than 38,000 since the first event in 1996.
The Rotary Club of Littleport hopes to organise another Sports Celebrity Dinner. If you would like to add your name to the mailing list or would like to know more about The Rotary Club of Littleport, email: gary@packwell.co.uk
