Looking for something a little different to do this weekend? Ely Wildspace group’s free BioBlitz event may be for you.
The BioBlitz, where people are tasked to find as many species of plants and animals as they can in 24 hours, takes place from 5pm on Friday 1 to 5pm on Saturday 2.
Andrew Balmford, professor of conservation science at the University of Cambridge, said: “This is an extraordinary chance to join some great experts and discover together some of the amazing creatures that make their home in Ely.”
Event coordinator Shelley Bolderson said: “As well as getting to grips with what lives on-site, the BioBlitz is more about engaging local people of all ages in nature and the wonderful wild spaces we have on our doorstep, and passing on the skills to identify and encourage wildlife in their own back gardens.”
Booking is advised to guarantee your place on activities. To view the full programme, plus booking information, visit www.elywildspace.org.uk
