ELY Police Station is throwing open its doors to the public on Sunday, giving them the chance to take a behind-the-scenes look.

There will be an opportunity to meet officers and quiz them about their job and policing in the community.

Police vehicles and equipment used to detain offenders will be on show and visitors will be able to book into custody and have their fingerprints and photos taken and have a go with the breathalyser machine.

There is a chance to take the speed camera challenge and gain a certificate as your running speed is recorded on a camera.

An ambulance and a fire engine will also be on display.

Anyone interested in finding out about becoming either a police community support officer or special constable will be able to get information from recruitment stands.

Ely Sector Inspector Adam Gallop said: "This is a great opportunity to get to know your local officers and PCSOs in an informal atmosphere and hopefully have some fun too."

The open day will take place between 12 noon and 4pm.
