Half of students at Witchford Village College achieved the benchmark of five A*-C grades including English and maths.

Every student left with a qualification, 98 per cent of them with at least five passes at A*-G and 58 per cent with five A*-C.

Among the top 25 pupils, 56 per cent of them were boys, bucking the national trend in boys’ performance for the first time at the college.

Maths saw a significant rise in ‘levels of expected progress’ on last year. More than 60 per cent of pupils gained A*-C passes in both Maths and English with English only passes at 66 per cent this year.

Principal Chris Terry said: “I am really proud of the hard work our students have put into their studies this year and congratulate our whole Year 11 on their success and wish them well for their future studies.

“Many pupils exceeded target grades and three students gained A*/A in all their subjects taken this year: Alex Gordon, Anna Elia and James Rayson. Our sincere congratulations to them on their amazing achievement.

“There were many others with 6 A*/A among their suite of results which again is a tremendous achievement.”

Mr Terry added: “After a significant amount of work, performance between students on the ‘Pupil Premium Indicator’ and those not has been reduced to below 3 per cent which is a significant improvement on last years results.”
