A VARIETY of private gardens around Ely will be open to the public on Monday, May 1, as part of a national scheme to raise money for charity.

The National Gardens Scheme opens dozens of gardens across the county to the public to support a wide variety of charities, including Macmillan Cancer Relief, Help the Hospices and County Nursing Associations.

In Ely, The Old Fire Engine House's garden will be open, as well as the garden at The Bishop's House, Hazeldene and at Quanea Hill, Quanea Drove.

Another event on Sunday, June 4, will see the garden at The Old Palace opened to the public, along with a number of others around the city.

INFO: All of the gardens will be open from 2-5pm on Monday, May 1, and combined admission to the gardens is £2.50. Teas will be available at The Old Fire Engine House.
