THERE was a lot of interest shown at our March meeting when chairman John Groves introduced our speaker Joe Sharman of Monksilver Nursery, as the topic was 'plants for dry places'. With the so-called climate change about to take place with hotter summers and less rainfall we were interested to know what we should be planting.
Joe brought a selection of plants with him and explained how plant leaves could conserve water.
After answering question, he was thanked by Mrs Saberton for a most interesting talk.
During refreshments, the stocked raffle took place and members were also able to purchase plants from Joe.
The next meeting will be at 7.45pm in the Brooklands Centre, Sutton on April 12 when Mike Day of NIAB will be talking about 'unusual vegetables'.
