WITCHFORD'S young people helped redesign the village playpark, which was unveiled in a ceremony on Saturday.

Children had the first chance to try out the Edge slide, Supernova roundabout, Vega spinning ride and Crazy Daisy rocker, washed down with squash and bacon butties, served from the Village Hall by the Scouts.

The £65,000 makeover of the Bedwell Hey Lane area won grants from the district council and Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd, after inspectors condemned the previously installed play equipment - some up to 40 years old - as dangerous.
