YEAR 11 pupils from Ely College marked the end of their schooling with a prom at the Maltings on the city’s riverside.
More than 150 pupils arrived at the venue on Friday evening, travelling in everything from a yellow London taxi right down to a humble cardboard cut-out of the Bat Mobile.
Some chose to contrast the elegance of the traditional prom dress with the boldness of the Humvee, while others sought a more tongue-in-cheek approach, one couple arriving in an ice cream van.
Whatever their mode of transport, each and every pupil was welcomed with rapturous applause by hundreds of friends and family who lined the route into the city landmark, the crowds even snaking round into the adjoining car park.
The event was held to celebrate the end of the pupil’s five years at the Downham Road college as they await the results of their GCSE examinations, due out in mid-August.
