GALLERY: Stretham School pupils enjoy a taste of traditional gypsy life

PUPILS at Stretham Primary School were given an insight into traditional gypsy and traveller life this week.

As part of gypsy and traveller history month, the pupils were given the chance to get up close and personal with a convoy of traditional gyspy caravans and travellers and enjoyed a day of activities.

More than 150 youngsters tried their hand at paper flower making, joined in with story-telling sessions, handled memorabilia and listened to some gypsy poetry.

A spokesman for the school said: “The paper flower making went down fantastically well and I think all the children had something they could take home with them.

“It is the first time that we have had the traveller group visit the school and I think it went down very well.”
