A colourful array of scarecrows appeared at the side of the roads in Pymoor and Little Downham this week for the villages’ annual Scarecrow Festival.
And, on Saturday, the popular festival culminated in a grand gathering of childrens’ scarecrows outside Downham Feoffees Primary School.
Some were no bigger than tiny dolls or wooden spoons whilst others were larger than their human counterparts. The display was augmented by plenty of entries created by Busy Fingers pre-School and by entire classes at the primary school.
The event was capped in the evening by The Scarecrow Barn Dance in the village hall. Many of the dancers dressed as scarecrows and the music and dancing were directed by the Sugar Beats.
The winner of the adult competition was Dinner for One by Pam Golding of (Pymoor. Second place went to Winter Draws On by Ron and Maddie Brown of Little Downham and third place went to Cutting Edge by Clifford Wilson, also of Little Downham.
