All 110 children in Year 3– together with 30 members of staff – have been hard at work learning a stringed instrument this year – with students either trying a double bass, cello, viola or violin.

All pupils have group lessons with their instrument on Mondays and Fridays, before heading to sectional and then orchestral rehearsals.

After months of hard work, the pupils were finally able to show off their talents at a special concert held at the school, in High Barns, last Friday.

Music teacher, Hazel Law said: “It’s very exciting to see all of the children playing together and impressive to see them carrying double basses across the courtyard at seven years of age.”
