HUNDREDS of Scouts and Guides turned out for the movement's annual St George's Day parade on Sunday.

Beavers and Brownies all turned out in Market Square at lunchtime and processed to Ely Cathedral to re-affirm their scouting promises in front of their district commissioner. More than 360 young people are members of the Scouts in East Cambridgeshire, and the parade is a time for groups from Ely, Sutton, Haddenham, Witchford, Littleport and the newly-opened troop in Stretham, to meet.

The parade is held on the nearest Sunday to April 23 each year, to commemorate St George, who is the patron saint of scouting.

The group's next venture is a trip to Ribe, Ely's twin town in Denmark.
