GCSE students from across the district were celebrating this morning after another record year of results.
Students at City of Ely Community achieved the best results in the College's history for the second year running, with 70% of students achieving five or more higher grades. The results were an improvement on last year's record by a whopping 10 per cent.
Within this record-breaking year group there was also a marked increase in the number of grades at A* and A with 31 students achieving five or more GCSEs at the highest level.
58% of students entered for the College's specialist business subjects achieved at least a grade C. 36 per cent of students achieved at least five or more GCSE A*-C grades including English and Maths, which although a decline on the same statistic last year is an improvement on all previous years.

Principal, Catherine Jenkinson-Dix, said: "I am delighted with the wonderful achievement of many of our students this year, and particular congratulations go to two students who both achieved A* in all 13 of their subjects."
At Soham Village College students were celebrating record results of their own with 73 per cent of students achieving at least five A*-C grades and 21 per cent of grades were at A* or A.

Dr Carin Taylor, principal at the college, said: "I congratulate all our students who have worked hard to achieve their grades and thank our staff for their commitment and hard work."
Councillor Martin Curtis, Cambridgeshire County Council's Cabinet Member for Children, said: "The results announced so far indicate that Cambridgeshire's GCSE students have excelled again.
"Their success is down to many months of commitment and study, supported by their families and inspired by the professionalism and dedication of their teachers. My warmest congratulations go out to them all.
