EAST Cambridgeshire students were celebrating another outstanding year of academic success as A-level results were released on Thursday.

At Ely Sixth Form College, 100 per cent of pupils passed their exams, up from 99 per cent last year, with 62 per cent achieving A*-C grades.

At King’s School in Ely, 86 per cent of results were graded A*-C in a total of 31 subjects, with the overall pass rate at 99 per cent.

King’s head, Sue Freestone, said: “Once again this summer we are able to celebrate results that bear testimony to the commitment and hard work of the young people involved and the teachers who have guided them through their educational journey.”

City of Ely College headteacher, Catherine Jenkinson-Dix, said: “It was our best ever year last year so we were delighted that we were able to maintain that level again this year.

“I think our success is thanks to the work our students have done and the quality of the teaching the staff have given them.”

Pick up a copy of next Thursday’s edition of the Ely Standard for a special report.
