More than 60 youngsters were inspired to believe and achieve at a special Girl’s Day held in Ely at the weekend.

Organised by The Lighthouse Church and Countess Free Church, the event, known as Shine, saw dozens of teenage girls take part in a day of activities and workshops while enjoying plenty of pampering and socialising.

Now in its fourth year, the event was set up by the two churches to encourage girls aged between 11 and 17 to aim high and seek to achieve, all within the values of Christianity.

Some of the girls travelled up to Ely from as far away as Essex to attend, with a team of 30 volunteers led by Zoe Cutter on hand to organise the day.

Planning for next year’s event is already under way.
