AN imperious display of bowling from Fordham saw them secure a 123 run victory over Bluntisham.

Though they could only post a relatively meagre 209 with the bat, Fordham were irresistible with the ball and their measured bowing attack made light work of the opposition, bowling them out for just 86.

The win, Fordham's eighth of the season, sees them return to the top of the Tucker Premier League after former leaders Abington could only manage a draw against Castor.

Invited to open the batting first, Fordham's early form set the tone for what would be a fragmented innings, with their first two wickets falling for just 32 runs.

The introduction of Mark Abbott and Matt Foulds to the crease altered a damaging pattern of play however, with the pair adding a useful 42 before Foulds was dismissed for 30.

The resilient Abbott was then joined at the crease by Scott Blaber, and the pair managed to repair the early damage yet further by adding 103 runs for the fifth wicket until Abbott was finally given his marching orders after a stubborn knock of 88.

Though Abbott and co had restored some order to the innings, some tight bowling from Bluntisham ensured that the visitors finished on 209, an eminently chase-able target for the home side.

Where Bluntisham had impressed with the ball however, Fordham excelled and the measured hostility of paceman Clinton Cornwell saw him collect 5-19 to really put the home side under pressure.

With wickets tumbling, Fordham moved to seal the game and spinner Chris Rule took the chance to grab himself a hat-full of wickets, taking 4-14 from just seven overs to seal a fine win.
