ELY Ladies continued their march to the title after cruising past Cambridge South 5-0.

Two goals in 10 minutes put Ely on top in the early stages, with a combination of quick passing and opportunist finishing ensuring the home side went on to bag their ninth victory in succession.

Although Cambridge currently sit bottom in the Cambs Premier League they began the game with gusto and looked to work themselves a foothold in the game with commitment and persistence in the challenge.

Despite the doggedness of the visitor's play Ely remained undeterred and got themselves into the lead after five minutes courtesy of a penalty corner which was slotted home by Chanre Bond.

Keen to push on from the early breakthrough, Ely began to employ some expansive passing which kept the visitors pegged back in their half as they struggled to retain possession.

The pressure finally told after 10 minutes when Bond smashed home following some intricate build-up play to make it 2-0.

Two became three just shy of half-time when Gemma Voutt added to her tally for season, breaking through several challenges to drive home.

A number of penalty corners fell Ely's way throughout the first-half and the abundance continued into the second, although by and large they were unable to find the right move to secure the goal.

Fortunately for the home side, their passing game was proving too good for South and Emily Kisby soon made it 4-0 after finding space outside the area to fire home.

Though Cambridge rallied in the latter stages of the second-half and looked a more dangerous proposition in attack, they were unable to stop Ely wrapping up the points in the final minutes as Ali Chapman pounced on a lose ball to tap in for 5-0.
