A total of eight Molly sides converged on the Cutter, in Ely, to kick off a day of music, song and dance that took the sides from Ely to the Five Miles from Anywhere, in Upware, the Plough, in Little Downham, and back again.

As well as host club Ouse Washes Molly, and local side the Mepal Molly, there were dancers from Yorkshire, Suffolk and Essex involved.

The event is held in memory of Ouse Washes Molly member Mark Jones, who was killed in an accident on the road while travelling home from a meet in 2004.

Michael Czarnobaj, of Mepal Molly, said: “We enjoyed the first dance of the day at the Cutter, by the river and everybody seemed to have a good time. The idea of the day is to bring some trade into the area and into the pubs and it went very well.”
