IN what proved to be an enthralling mini-league encounter Crusaders gave their best team performance of the season to claim victory against previously unbeaten Littleport Town.
With Crusaders duo Lewis Hook and Alex Brown linking well in the midfield, Ely took the lead with Brown's goal. Jay Spittles scored next for Crusaders and it was only some excellent play by the respective defences that prevented any further scores before the break.
In the second half Littleport tried to force themselves back into contention but with Crusaders' Evan Jeckells, Jake Butler and Edward Frodsham standing strong in the Ely back line it was Sam Scarborough's goal which edged Ely further in front. As the game moved into the final stages it was the 'Port keeper who ultimately denied Ely a more emphatic final scoreline. James Barrett scored the final goal for a 4-0 win.
Crusaders: J Barrett, A Brown, J Butler, E Frodsham, L Hook, E Jeckells, G Leech, J Marston, S Scarborough, J Spittles
