A GARDEN party in aid of Parkinson’s UK’s Ely Support Group was held at the home of Pam and Brian Hayes.

More than 20 people attended the event and the treasurer of the group, Chris Seekins, was handed a cheque for £403.50 from the secretary of Littleport Bowling Club Stewart Rogers.

The generous sum was raised in memory of Ferrel Howe, whose widow Dorothy was present at the meeting to see this cheque handed over. Thanks were given to Mr Rogers and the bowls club for the efforts made to raise the money.

The support group meets at Bell Holt, Lisle Lane, Ely normally on the third Tuesday of each month. For more information about this group please contact Maryla Twin on 01353 661374 or the branch and volunteer officer for Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk, Sue Vaughan-Williams on 0844 225 3614.
