The Mayor of Ely commemorated the opening of a new convenience store over the weekend.

Councillor Elisabeth Every cut the ribbon of the St Mary’s Street Nisa in Ely.

The event which attracted crowds of local people also included a number of activities for adults and children, including: face-painting, a bouncy castle, characters from Frozen, a BBQ and live music.

The children at the event were also given free goody bags while a tombola stall raised money for charity.

Store owner Barry Patel, said: “It was a really good day.

“The Mayor gave a speech about how the shop will be good for the community and said the opening is a great opportunity for the town.

“Lots of people came in and the kids really loved it.”
