Wilburton Primary School held its annual sports day last Thursday and marked the occasion with a visit from a very special guest.
Christopher Talbot, a former pupil of the school, contacted teachers earlier this year asking if he could return the sports cup that he had looked after for more than 50 years, having been allowed to keep it after winning the competition as a pupil three years in a row, from 1961-63.
The children cheered as Mr Talbot presented the cup to winners of the sprint race, Katie Hughes and Oliver Smith.
Jenny Bone, head of school, said: βIt has been such a pleasure to have Mr Talbot with us today and very kind of him to return the cup to us. We look forward to seeing if any of the children can win it three times in a row!β
