ELY'S Sacrist Gate toilets, which were saved from closure earlier this year, have been awarded four stars in the Loo of the Year Awards.
They were one of eight in East Cambridgeshire entered for the competition - seven were given four stars and one three stars.
The success is down to public toilets supervisor Derek Mitchell and his toilet cleaning team who ensure high standards are met throughout the district.
Now the toilets in Barton Road, Cloisters, Newnham Street, Sacrist Gate, and Ship Lane car park, Ely, Littleport's Main Street car park and Wicken's Lode Lane car park, all awarded four stars, and three star winner Ely's Palace Green, could win further accolades at the awards ceremony in Birmingham on December 8.
