A WELL-attended general meeting was held in the village hall on Friday. Members and visitors were welcomed by the chairman, Pam Hayes. Reports were given by the chairman, treasurer and president and thanks were expressed to the committee for their hard work and enthusiasm in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the club as we enter our 45th year. The chosen charity for the forthcoming year is to be Cancer Research in memory of two members who both died from the disease last year.

After coffee, the chairman introduced Mr Lionel Clark from Maldon, an area demonstrator, who presented the audience with 'Charade'. Lionel has been to the club on several occasions but always delights us with his beautiful designs and clever use of plant material.

Unusual containers, each with its own story, together with interesting foliage enhanced the seven arrangements he created for us using lovely flowers. His use of green flowers in his designs - carnations, bloom chrysanthemums and two types of orchid - was particularly stunning. A vote of thanks was given by the Club President, Louise Richards.

The next meeting will be on Friday, April 20, when the annual subscription of £12 will be due. Visitors' fees will be £3 and everyone is welcome to a demonstration by Mrs Judy Barham from Norwich who will be 'Taking a Break'. Contact numbers, Pam Hayes

860102 or Pam Sole 863421.
