In the trenches, on stormy seas and in flimsy aircraft held together with wood and glue – dozens of men from Haddenham served through all the major actions of the First World War.
Meanwhile, those who stayed at home endured hardship and tragedy while raising funds and taking on new challenges to support the war effort.
Now a new book called ‘Fen Boys Go to War’ will commemorate them all, including those who did not return.
Produced by the Haddenham Local History Group, and written by local authors, Gary Beach and Rosemary Gorman, it will include a full list of those who served.
The book is based on presentations over the last five years but contains extra information.
It will be launched on November 10 at the British Legion event in the Arkenstall Centre.
The book will also be available for sale at £12.99 from Haddenham Library, Burrows Bookshop and by ordering online at haddenhamww1@gmail.com.
