Mystery surrounded the cause of a fire in Littleport which took hold in the early hours of this morning (Monday).
Firefighters from the village station were called to open ground off Wisbech Road shortly after 3am and discovered a small quantity of rubbish on fire. They extinguished the blaze and returned to their station by 4am. An investigation was carried out but the cause of the fire is unknown.
In nearby Soham, on Sunday, Firefighters were called to a hedge fire in Hasse Road.
Fire crews from Sutton and Newmarket were called at about 2.30pm to reports that a small quantity of wood and logs were alight alongside a brick garage.
Firefighters returned to their stations by 3.55pm. The cause of the fire was accidental.
