NOT sure about where to get the best service? It can be difficult to find good plumbers, driving instructors or even undertakers and trust that they will do a professional job at a fair price.
Each type of business has its own body which maintains the standards of that trade and ensures that customers are treated fairly. The regulatory body's purpose is to help the customer make an informed choice when choosing a supplier. There is always some useful information you need to know when choosing a supplier. What criteria do you need to meet in order to become a member? Is the membership ever withdrawn if the work is found to be below standard? What happens if things go wrong?
These questions are all worth asking before you choose any firm. Also asking questions at an early stage saves confusion, embarrassment and frustration, and could even save some money later.
All these bodies have a head office and are available by phone. The list of contact numbers can be found in the Yellow Pages.
Do make sure that you deal with a firm that is a member of a regulatory body. It is always a good sign when a firm is a member of more than one. Do check-ups on the firm as some may make up watchdogs to attract more customers.
Then again, save yourself the time and the trouble. Look for that seal of approval!
