THREE Fenland cadets were among four top young achievers to receive awards at a recent presentation held at the County Army Cadet Headquarters at Waterbeach.
Company Commander Major Trevor Cox presented Cadet Corporal Amy Neale,16, from Chatteris, and Cadet Corporal Richard Cole,16, from Ely, the coveted 4 Star badge which is top of the national army cadet training syllabus.
Cadet Darryl Garner, 14,from Chatteris received promotion to Lance Corporal for his efforts at the local detachment.
Iain Hyde,18, from Sawston received promotion to Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major - the highest cadet rank in the county force.
Amy, a sixth form student at the Perse School, Cambridge, said, "The cadet force is great for getting out, doing fun things, and meeting people while achieving qualifications at the same time. I recommend it to everyone"
Major Cox said of their achievements: "These young people have given their best and deserve recognition. The skills they learn in the Army Cadet Force will stand them in good stead throughout their lives".
