Federation of Small Businesses and Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Mayor James Palmer meet to discuss issues affecting small businesses

Issues affecting small businesses was the topic of discussion during a meeting between the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) and the Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough James Palmer.
The meeting was held at East Cambridgeshire District Council to discuss issues that are important to the 100,000 businesses in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area.
Graham Buck, regional chairman of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire branch of the FSB, said: “Mayor Palmer gave us an update on how he intends to help small businesses find the skills they need to address shortages in the region.”
Mayor Palmer said: “Small businesses are the life blood of the region contributing to more than half of all employment.”
There was also an update on details about working with other authorities within the area and what the Combined Authority see as added value.
Progress on infrastructure projects and rural broadband was also discussed at the meeting and Mayor Palmer shared his thoughts on the future of apprenticeships and how technology will change the employment needs of agriculture in the region.
