BOYS who have been excluded from schools in East Cambridgeshire are being given the chance to box their way out of trouble.
The GOBB project (Groups of Boys Boxing) will take boys aged 13-16, and get them involved in disciplined sporting activities and community life.
Each student, will undertake a sports leadership scheme as part of the project.
GOBB is the brainchild of East Cambridgeshire District Council and the Youth Service from Sutton Ely and Littleport.
Tom Hickson, Sports Development Officer at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: "Boxing may be seen as a brutal and harsh sport but for the young people who have been referred to us, it is well-known that disciplined sporting activity can help bring some order back to their lives."
He added: "Sport gives people pride, sense of achievement and an aim in life. The project will get children off the streets and give them a focus."
