Every little helps but in the case of Aquafest it’s a very tidy sum indeed that Tesco has provided
ELY’S annual riverside extravaganza Aquafest is set to be sponsored by Tesco this year.
The store, on Angel Drove, has thrown its weight behind the popular family event, which takes place on July 1 and regularly draws thousands of visitors into the city.
Tesco’s community champion Breda Walton said: “We are delighted to be one of the main sponsors of Aquafest. It is a great community event which brings everyone together, it is a pleasure to be involved.”
The annual event organised by the Rotary clubs of Ely will be celebrating its 34th year, and this year will have an Olympic theme.
Located on three sites along the riverside, Lavender Green, Jubilee Gardens and the Maltings, Aquafest will once again feature a heady mix of entertainment, food and refreshments, stalls and of the ever-popular raft races.
Aquafest organiser Jacqueline Whipp, said: “The support from Tesco Ely has helped enable the Rotary Clubs of Ely to make this annual riverside event free for visitors. So, this really enjoyable family fun day out is completely accessible to all of the community. This is greatly appreciated by all.”
There will also be a grand raffle with some fantastic prizes including a 40” television, donated by Tesco. Raffle tickets are available on the day for 1 each.
