BARONESS Estelle Morris will launch the Ely Cathedral Education Trust on Friday.
Ely Cathedral already has an established Education Department with organised visits for around 10,000 school children each year.
"We seek to bring the cathedral to life for children and young people, " said Jan Munt, the cathedral's education officer.
"We offer a series of different experiences, such as Monks Days or Victorian Days, each keying into the National Curriculum. These simply cannot be reproduced in the classroom."
Canon Alan Hargrave, who is responsible for Mission and Education at the Cathedral said the new trust would build on the tremendous work already established.
"We would like to expand what we offer in the field of adult education and also reach out to some of the disaffected young people who hang around the Cathedral grounds," he said.
"We hope the Trust will enable us to access funding in order to realise these goals.'
At Friday's launch, Baroness Morris will be speaking on 'education. education, education'.
All are welcome to attend.
