ENTREPRENEURS are needed for a fund-raising challenge this winter.
The Old Palace in Ely is appealing for "Big Wigs" to come forward and compete in a unique fund-raising event where businesses are given £50 and asked to come up with a business idea that will make money.
Working with Sue Ryder Care, the Big Wig Challenge 2008 is open to all businesses in the area and the idea is that businesses make money from their idea and are able to return the £50, plus whatever money they generate to the charity.
Each business that takes part will be given £50 at a special launch evening to be held on September 23 at the Old Palace.
It is then over to the imaginations of local entrepreneurs as they are asked to use the £50 in a four-month challenge.
Senior fund-raiser for Sue Ryder, Grant Peters, explained: "The challenge is to take the money and prove just how good an entrepreneur you are.
"We are not telling anyone what to do with the money, we just want them to make it grow and give it back to the charity with substantial interest."
With several companies already committed to the challenge, including the Ely Standard, this year already looks set to raise a considerable amount.
Last year saw companies battling for the title of "Entrepreneur of the Year" and it raised more than £22,000.
If your company is interested in taking part or would like more information contact the Sue Ryder fund-raising team on 01353 663357 or email email@example.com.
The Ely Standard would like to know how imaginative Ely business people can be, so please write in and tell us about your inspiring ideas.
