An Ely woman has won gold at a professional world physiques competition after entering her first show just three weeks ago.
Soraya Barrera Coello, who trains at the Atrium Fitness Club in Ely, entered the Ultimate Female Model category at the Professional World Ultimate Physiques Championships in Dartford last weekend – and surprised dozens of professional athletes by walking away with the top prize and a cheque for £500.
“I cannot believe it. I didn’t expect to come third in the previous shows let alone come first in a harder competition,” she said.
“This is the cherry on the top and shows that anyone can achieve anything as long as they don’t give up.”
Soraya was invited to the world competition after finishing in third at the United Kingdom Ultimate Physique contest last month – a contest she had decided to enter just six months before.
She plans on keeping fit into the New Year and entering more competitions in 2018 with the help of personal trainer, Matt Nice.
