ELY woman Nicola Still was banned from driving for 18 months by magistrates on Thursday after pleading guilty to drink driving.

The 38-year-old, of Wheatsheaf Close, Ely gave a breathalyser reading more than twice the legal after she was spotted trying to drive away from the BP petrol station on Witchford Road on July 7.

Still came to officers’ attention after she began shouting and was seen staggering away from the kiosk of the petrol station, where she had purchased a bottle of the sparkling wine Lambrini.

Officers then watched as she struggled to pick up a receipt for the wine she had dropped on the floor and then climbed into her car. They then moved their car to stop her from leaving the forecourt and took a breath test.

Still gave a reading of 77 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - more than twice the legal limit of 35 - and was subsequently arrested.

On top of a ban, magistrates fined the 38-year-old 100 and ordered her to pay 70 in costs and a 15 surcharge.
