The Full Monty by Campaign Amateur Theatre at The Maltings

CAMPAGIN Amateur Theatre's production of The Full Monty will be the last show staged at The Maltings before the venue closes for renovation.

Based on the award-winning film, this production centres around unemployed steel worker Jerry Lukowski (played by Robin Bailes) whose 'get rich quick' scheme involves him and his mates stripping off. He gathers some of his former work colleagues and they form a group called Hot Metal. The group consists of Jerry's best mate Dave, Harold, aka Harold the Horrible, Malcolm whom they rescue from trying to gas himself in his car, Ethan who is a part-time decorator and Horse who lost his job at McDonalds for scaring the customers. Tickets for the Hot Metal show are not selling fast until Jerry announces that the group are prepared to go 'all the way' and do the full monty.

The show sells out, but there are other problems to overcome, like some serious self doubt and lack of confidence.

Campaign Amateur Theatre has been playing to audiences in Ely since 1969 and has donated a large percentage of its profits to local charities. The group hopes to be able to donated a cheque for £500 to a local charity from proceeds of The Full Monty.

INFO: The Full Monty is being performed at The Maltings from April 23-26. Tickets are on sale now from Burrows Bookshop in Ely are £8.50. Performances start at 7.30pm. Tickets are also available by telephoning 01353 669759.
