Charlie Gillet and Richard Taylor created the film using the backdrop of Ely Cathedral in the snow, to show why it’s important to choose official content over illegal downloads.

The pair beat of competition from 300 entries, and the winning schools will be announced on Thursday April 15, when the prize includes a £5,000 cheque as well as an iPad for each participating student.

The Be©reative national advertising challenge invited young people aged 11 to 19 from schools up and down the UK compete to create an original and inspirational advertising campaign which tackles the issue of piracy.

Teenagers Charlie and Richard created a short video which involved students taking on the roles of the huge number of people who are involved in making films.

Steve Merrel, tutor at Kings Ely School, said: We had only shown the competing films in assembly last week and they got a great response so it was very exciting to see that Richard and Charlie’s film had been shortlisted. I am very impressed at the work the boys and their cast produced and it has been an inspiration to our other students.”

Charlie Gillet added: “The idea was not to show how bad piracy was, but to show how much effort, time, money and work goes into making a film. The amount of time we took on this piece shows us how important it is not to pirate.”
