Ely station gets a CCTV upgrade that Abellio hope will improve customer safety

Ely is one of 33 rail stations where the CCTV has been upgraded.
Abellio Greater Anglia says the improved CCTV systems can be used by British Transport Police to aid successful prosecutions and deter crime and vandalism.
“Some of the cameras are at stations which previously had none and are high definition,” said a spokesman.
“They also feature facial recognition cameras.”
Abellio says that at Colchester, Ely and Norwich, the extra cameras offer enhanced security for the new cycle parking areas that have recently been installed.
Part of the upgrade was funded by the Department for Transport and Association of Train Operating Companies Cycle Rail Fund 2015-16 for enhanced CCTV in cycle parking areas.
