AT the last meeting of the society on April 11, members and visitors heard an interesting talk on 'the Ely water supply' by Graham Kemp of Anglia Water. He explained its historical development, its current organisation and its future plans with the help of maps and photographs, and illuminated what was a largely unknown subject to most of the audience.
The next meeting will be 'a history of opium taking in the fens', a talk by Dr Timothy Hunt. It promises to be equally enlightening. It will take place on Wednesday, May 19 at 7.30pm in the Methodist Hall in Chapel Street. Visitors are welcome at a charge of £2 per head.
