An eight year old school girl has made a You Tube video about childhood cancer to help raise money for Children In Need.

Lydia Port-Burke has written the story and turned it into a mini film for the BBC 2017 charity night which comes with a Just Giving link for people to donate if they enjoyed watching it.

She has made 300 bright yellow fliers to post around homes in her village of Little Downham to encourage people to tune in to the film, Fairy Mission Goes Conkers, and donate.

Her mum Eleanor said: “Lydia went out and collected 200 conkers off her own back which she poured all over the conservatory floor.

“She then took out my scraps of material and found mini pom poms and decorated them all.

“It took her about a week to get it all ready and we then photographed them all, ready to make into a mini film.

“The garden was used as a backdrop. My IT skills are not that great but between us me managed to put it all together.

“She wants to raise at least £50 so hopefully she will get to that total once she goes in the newspaper.

“It’s very much her ideas and just needed a bit of mum help to do it.”

Three years ago Lydia and her mum published a book about fairies to raise funds for Children In Need which uses Lydia’s drawings.

It is still available to buy on Amazon and has so far raised £400.

Lydia’s latest charity mission aims to raise awareness of childhood cancer, disability and illness.

In the video Lydia uses her decorated conkers to tell the story of a mum, dad and their daughters, Violet, Rose, Daisy and Lily in the mini clip lasting under two minutes.

She says on the video that the idea is to help other children learn about cancer and help those suffering to feel less afraid.

Her book published three years ago is about Stripe, a fast-flying fairy land bug, who is sneaked out of Fairy Land by goblins.

It is up to the fairy family to find Stripe and reunite her with the Fairy King.
