Ely schoolboy sacrifices holidays for fundraising walk

CHETTISHAM teenager Ciaran Carolan is sacrificing an entire week off school to raise money for Cancer Research.
While most school pupils will have their feet up during the May half-term holiday, 14-year-old Ciaran will be walking 96 miles across the Scottish Highlands, from Glasgow to Fort William.
Ciaran is hoping to raise £1,000 in memory of his nan Kathleen, who was diagnosed with cancer back in January and died little more than seven weeks later.
Ciaran’s mum Pauline, dad and uncle will be joining him for small stretches of the walk, expected to take seven whole days, which he organised entirely of his own accord.
With end of year exams beginning just a few weeks after he returns from his walk, Ciaran will have to contend with plenty of revision as well as the challenging terrain of the Highlands.
