The Old Fire Engine House restaurant and gallery in Ely is celebrating 50 years in the city with a month-long art exhibition showcasing work by 100 artists.
The venue, near Ely Cathedral, will host the event from Thursday June 7, including paintings, sculptures, ceramics, textiles, mixed media and photography from renowned artists.
There will be pieces by Shirley Felts, Robin Boyd, Julia Ball and popular Cambridgeshire artist Anthony Day, who was first to exhibit in December 1968.
Ann Jarman, exhibition curator, said: “It’s a wonderful celebration for everyone who has supported us over the last fifty years; staff, artists and customers, some of whom have been with us from the very beginning and have become great friends.”
The exhibition will hang throughout two floors, both gallery spaces and the garden from June 7 to July 8 and entry is free.
A spokesman said: “Visitors to The Old Fire Engine House can also enjoy the large walled gardens, morning and afternoon teas, lunch and dinner.
“Guests are welcomed into the bar where a photograph of Ely’s horse-drawn fire engine and fire fighters from 1906 still hangs over the log fire as a reminder of the Georgian property’s history.”
