ELY’S new mayor hailed the first instalment of her Summer Saturdays series of free concerts.
Cllr Elaine Griffin-Singh was joined by about 100 residents and visitors on Market Place on Saturday evening to enjoy music and other entertainment, including popular band Fenland Jam.
She said: “I think we had just over 100 people come and join us and, for a first event, which is always hard to promote, I think it went quite well. We had a lot of family groups and people enjoyed bringing their own food.
“I am confident that after two or three weeks, we will have plenty more people getting involved, especially if we get good weather.”
This Saturday, from 6-10pm, The Lighthouse Theatre Group will be providing the entertainment. Bring your own food and chairs to the Market Place to get involved. Tables are provided.
