FIREFIGHTERS in Ely raised more than £300 at the weekend after hosting a charity car wash.
The Ely crew, based in Egremont Street, swapped their hoses and engines for sponges and soap to raise funds for The Fire Fighters Charity.
The crews were kept very busy across both days by residents keen to show their support and to give their cars a spruce up.
Crews from Chatteris, Gamlingay and Papworth also held charity car washes at their stations, helping to raise a grand total of £1,500.
The Fire Fighters Charity is the UK’s leading provider of services that
enhance quality of life for serving and retired fire service personnel and their
families.
Group Commander Jon Neish, said: ““The crews worked really hard at the various events and it is great to see their efforts were well received by those residents that attended. The hard work from the crews ensured that the events were a great success.”
