The Ely branch of Sainsbury's has given its Christmas decorations a new lease of life by donating them to a school for use next year.

The team at Sainsbury’s, in Lisle Lane, handed over an array of colourful festive items to volunteers working for the Doddington Kindergarten School, in Kenya.

The school was built by a group of volunteers and has progressed from a small hut into a block built building over the past few years.

The volunteers, from Cambridgeshire, have also helped to supply pupils with books and other equipment.

The donation from Sainsbury’s is being shipped to the school for them to use to brighten up the classrooms next Christmas.

Sainsbury’s store manager, Karen Watts said: “We had lots of really nice comments about our decorations this year so I’m really pleased that we can give them a new lease of life next year by donating them to the school in Kenya.

“I hope they get as much enjoyment out of them as our customers and colleagues did this year.”
