AN Ely postal worker who is accused of stabbing three people in Ely city centre has appeared in court.

Phillip Gregory, of Broad Street, has been charged with three counts of grievous bodily harm with intent after a man was stabbed on Market Place at 2am on October 19. A man and a woman were also stabbed in Broad Street 15 minutes later and taken to hospital with stab wounds. The woman was released from Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge two days later, but police are unable to confirm the condition of the two men.

Gregory, 33, who worked at the Royal Mail delivery office on Cresswell's Lane, Ely, was remanded in custody at Cambridge Crown Court on Tuesday and will reappear for a plea and directions hearing at the same court on January 9.
