A police officer has appeared in court to answer charges of theft.

Detective Constable Matt Bailey, 50, who is based at Ely police station, pleaded not guilty to two counts of theft and a third charge of an offence under the Data Protection Act.

Bailey appeared at Boston Magistrates’ Court, in Lincolnshire, last Thursday.

The case was adjourned and Bailey was ordered to appear at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on April 1 for trial.

He was released on conditional bail.
